Day 3: Finished

Day 3: Finished
Originally uploaded by lamdesigns

Today, in between the usual surfing the net, honestly after 9 years you think I'd get bored of it, and roleplaying, but evidently I haven't, anyway I will be listing this beauty on to Etsy, and considering making another one, I have all manner of odds and sods laying about and I need to come up with different more linen and natural looking bits for the next craft show I'm doing. Soon as I've had confirmation that my payment has been recieved I'll let you know when and where it is.

Life so far...

Just a wee post to say that effectively I’m out of the office, to be honest I have been for the past few days, the heat and several things coming up have meant that I’ve barely picked up a needle in a while. Though in reality I will be tomorrow, but not for my own stuff.

Anyway I’ll be back around after next Tuesday, a day after a big interview I’m going to. Eek.
Enjoy the weather!

Onomatopoeia Collection - 1 - 3

A sneeze (or sternutation) is a semi-autonomous, convulsive expulsion of air from the lungs through the nose and mouth, most commonly caused by foreign particles irritating the nasal mucosa.
----
Some common English onomatopoeias for the sneeze sound are achoo, atchoo, and atishoo, with the first syllable corresponding to the sudden intake of air, and the second to the sound of the sneeze.

Cheese & Chive Scones

Cheese and Chive Scones
Makes approx 6 – 9 depending on the size of your cutter
You will need:

225g Self Raising Flour (For quickness you can get the shifted flour)
½ teaspoon salt (or substitute the butter for slightly salted)
30g Unsalted butter
30g Strong cheddar
1 tablespoon of finely chopped fresh chives (use scissors if you’re not good with knives)
150ml Milk
1 egg beaten, to glaze / or with more milk if you prefer a light gloss.

Also needed:
A small amount of flour for flouring a surface
A floured tray to stop sticking
A mug of your favourite tea...this is purely for the chef
How to make these yummy afternoon treats...or any time of the day treats:

1. Preheat your oven to 220c/425f/gas mark 7 if you have a fan oven I normally put it on 180c. Flour your baking sheet.

2. Sift the flour with the salt if you are not using pre-shifted and or salted butter into a large bowl.
3. Grate very cold butter straight from the fridge into the bowl, it saves time and your fingers when you come to rub it in. Also grate your cheese into the bowl as well. Rub the butter and the cheese into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the finely chopped chives.

4. Make a well in your mixture, and pour in some of the milk, mix using a knife, keep adding and mixing in the milk bit by bit until you get spongy but not gooey dough.

5. Place on a floured surface, kneed it slightly but don’t over work it. Don’t worry about rolling it out use your hands to press it down until it’s about 1 inch/2.5cm in depth, fairly chunky. Cut out using whatever cutters you have. For something unusual try a heart shaped cutter.

6. Brush lightly with a beaten egg, or if you prefer milk use that. Place on your floured tray.

7. Pop in the top of your oven for 7 minutes, or until the top has a nice golden finish, may require a few more minutes on top depending on your oven. So use this time to clean up, make a cuppa and just keep an eye on your batch.

8. Enjoy with lashing of butter and another cup of tea!

Aftershow wrap up.

So I did the craftshow....

I was going to write my blog about it yesterday, but I had so many other things to do, like getting my stores re-opened, (which they are - new stock being added over the next few days.) cleaning the kitchen bins (Eww), unpacking my case from the show, also baked scones (cheese and chive...omg to die for!) and other general domestic bits and pieces.

However, that all aside the show went really well, after I got over the annoying thing of getting lost, why did I leave the house without my A-Z? So was a little late for set up, a friend of mine from Germany, actually got there before I did? What are the chances, so once I got over the shakes and set it up, though I forever tweak things....it ran well.

I may not have sold a great deal, about four items in total, it was still great fun, had a super atomsphere, made some great contacts, especially a lovely lady who runs 'Lush & Lovely' she was really fun and interesting to talk to, and the ladies either side of me where great as well. Also the customers where really nice, had several nice chats with random people.

I think actually I'm up for doing another show, but several things I would do differently....

- Take better shots of my stall
- Take a little less stock
- Change the way I priced up the work, I think they were a little on the small side
But you know you live and you learn!
I also know I won't need to buy anything else to attend one, as I have plently of packaging, and bits to take with me.
